Objectives

The relationship between the chief- and the incidental aims of the CAD are depicted in Fig.1.1. In short, the objectives are based on the Christian ethos, values and way of life, namely:

o Sobriety: ensure that recovering substance dependants refrain from the use of dependence-producing substances;

o Treatment: identify beneficiaries for treatment;

o Support: supporting recovering substance dependants by aftercare and reintegration into the community;

o Growth: provide therapeutic growth to recovering substance dependants and their co-dependants, and

o Resistance: promote resistance to substance dependence.
